National Sons Day - March 4

National Sons Day is on March 4th! This holiday honors the sons of the world and those who raise them. Sons, like many children, test the boundaries until one day, they stand before us, grown-up and mature. National Sons Day encourages parents to be role models and provide the boundaries that their sons need, all the while loving their independence and spunk.

Parents and family members strive to mold their children to be better people, hopefully better than we are. We always want the best for them and their future families.

Celebrate their successes and be there guiding their downfalls or failures, all the while still offering encouragement. Give them a foundation of
skills that they will rely on for the rest of their life, which hopefully they will pass it on to their own sons.  Above all, take a break from your computer and cell phone and give them your undivided attention.  When you spend quality time with them, or any child, make them your number one priority.  This one act will speak volumes.

Boys need us to model hard work, responsibility and integrity. As they work and learn beside us, those qualities will be instilled in them. This day reminds us of the value our sons bring to our lives and to others in the family and it should not be just one day but every day.  Our children learn from us by modeling our behavior.  If you are honest and kind, they will be.  If you model hard work and integrity, they will follow.  If you have morals and values, again, they too will follow.  Spend quality time, show them your love and attention and enjoy your time together.

Make this day unique by taking a photo of you and your son together, then one of you, your spouse, and your son. Later in life, frame that photo. He will have a legacy to pass on to his children.
